The digital storefronts for two popular arcade-style sports titles will be closing their doors later this month. Both WWE 2K Battlegrounds and NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 are scheduled to be delisted from all online storefronts, making them unavailable for new digital purchase.
Following the delisting, the online servers supporting these games are set to be permanently shut down in July. This move will disable all multiplayer functionality, including online matches and any features requiring an internet connection.
Importantly, players who already own the games will retain access to their core offline modes. This includes local multiplayer, single-player campaigns, and any previously downloaded content. The server shutdown does not affect the ability to play these aspects of the games.
The decision is part of a standard lifecycle process for live-service components, though it often disappoints dedicated player communities. Fans are encouraged to make any final online purchases or enjoy the multiplayer features before the July cutoff date.
