Epic Games has delayed its upcoming Disney collaboration, a shooter featuring characters from the Marvel and Star Wars universes. The project was originally expected to arrive sooner, but the company has confirmed a shift in its release schedule. No new date has been announced.
The delay comes alongside a broader internal directive. Leadership at Epic Games has instructed developers to adopt an "AI first" approach to their work. That means artificial intelligence tools should be considered the default starting point for coding, design, and content creation, rather than an optional extra.
The Disney project, which blends iconic franchises into a single shooter experience, is one of the studio's most ambitious crossovers to date. Pushing it back gives teams more time to integrate new workflows and test how AI assisted development affects quality and speed.
Some staff have reportedly raised concerns about relying too heavily on automated systems, especially for creative decisions. Epic has not shared specific details about which AI models or platforms will be used.
For now, the Disney game remains in development. The company says it will share more information when the timing is right. Fans waiting for the crossover will need to be patient as Epic reworks both its tools and its timeline.
