Persona 1 & 2 Remakes Might Happen One Day, Series Producer Says

Fans of the older Persona games have been asking for years, and it looks like their voices are finally being heard. Kazuhisa Wada, the series producer, recently suggested that remakes or remasters of Persona 1 and 2 could happen at some point. He framed the idea as a matter of "cultural preservation," noting that keeping older titles accessible is important for the franchise's history.

Wada did not announce any concrete plans or give a timeline. He simply stated that the door is open. The challenge, as he sees it, is that the first two Persona games are very much products of their era. Their gameplay mechanics and dungeon design are quite different from the modern entries that most fans started with. A straight remaster might not appeal to a wider audience, while a full remake would require a lot of work to bring the story and systems up to current standards.

Still, the fact that he is talking about it publicly is a shift. For a long time, the official stance was that these games were too old and too niche to revisit. Now, the conversation has changed. Wada seems to understand that there is a real demand, not just from nostalgic veterans but from newer players who want to see where the series came from. Whether it happens is another question, but it is no longer a flat no.
