The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Dated for Digital, Home Video Release

Fans of the plumber in red can mark their calendars for the next chance to revisit his latest big-screen adventure. The Super Mario Galaxy movie is set to arrive on digital platforms in just a few weeks, with a physical home video release to follow shortly after. Viewers who prefer to stream will get first access, as the digital version drops ahead of the Blu-ray and DVD editions.

The announcement confirms that the animated feature, which launched in theaters earlier this year, will hit online stores on a specific date in early May. Those holding out for a disc copy will need to wait until the end of the same month. The staggered release is a common strategy now, giving early adopters a chance to own the film digitally before the physical copies hit shelves.

Details on bonus features remain light, but the home video release is expected to include deleted scenes, behind-the-scenes featurettes, and commentary tracks. The movie itself follows Mario and Luigi as they navigate a sprawling galaxy filled with new power-ups and familiar faces from the franchise. It continues the story from the previous animated film, expanding the universe with more cosmic set pieces and a fresh villain.

Pre-orders for both formats are already live through major retailers. The digital version will be available for purchase and rental, while the physical release will come in standard and limited edition packaging. For now, fans have a clear window to plan their viewing, whether they prefer a download or a shelf-worthy case.
