Subscription-based gaming has exploded over the past few years—like Netflix but for your controller. Everyone from Xbox to EA wants a piece of the recurring revenue pie, and Ubisoft is no different. Enter Ubisoft+, a subscription service that gives you access to Ubisoft’s full game library (including new releases) for a monthly fee.
But with so many subscription options out there—like Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation Plus, EA Play, Amazon Luna, and even humble bundles—it’s natural to wonder: is Ubisoft+ worth it? How does it actually compare to the other heavy-hitters in the gaming subscription world?
Let’s break it all down and see how Ubisoft+ stacks up against the competition.
Ubisoft+ is a monthly subscription service that gives you unlimited access to a massive library of Ubisoft games. We’re talking Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, Watch Dogs, Tom Clancy’s series (Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon, The Division), and more.
It launched back in 2019 (originally as Uplay+), and it supports Windows PC, Amazon Luna, and Xbox (via Ubisoft+ Multi-Access). It costs around $14.99/month for PC access, and $17.99/month if you want to play on console and cloud platforms.
Pretty sweet, right? But there's more to look at.
Game Pass is arguably the most generous, well-rounded gaming subscription service out there. For about $10.99/month (console or PC), or $16.99 for Game Pass Ultimate (which includes both platforms and Xbox Cloud Gaming), you get access to:
- 100s of games across genres and publishers
- Day-one Xbox Game Studios titles like Starfield and Forza Motorsport
- EA Play bundled at no extra cost with Ultimate
- Cloud gaming on mobile, browser, and console
- Perks and in-game bonuses
- Multiplayer access via Xbox Live Gold
| Feature | Ubisoft+ | Xbox Game Pass Ultimate |
|--------------------------------------|-----------------------------|-----------------------------|
| Monthly Cost | $14.99–$17.99 | $16.99 |
| Game Library Size | ~100 | 400+ |
| Day-One Releases | Yes (Ubisoft games only) | Yes (Xbox first-party games)|
| Cloud Gaming | Yes (via Luna/Xbox) | Yes |
| Third-Party Titles | No | Yes (Bethesda, EA, etc.) |
| Platform Support | PC, Xbox, Amazon Luna | PC, Xbox, Cloud |
While Ubisoft+ gives you premium editions and all the Ubisoft content you could dream of, Game Pass offers far more variety and value across hundreds of titles. Essentially, Ubisoft+ is a niche service. Game Pass is the full buffet.
You get:
- PS4 and PS5 game libraries with hundreds of titles
- Cloud streaming (Premium only)
- Classic PlayStation titles
- Ubisoft+ Classics (a trimmed-down version of Ubisoft+)
- Game trials and discounts
| Feature | Ubisoft+ | PlayStation Plus |
|--------------------------------------|-----------------------------|-----------------------------|
| Monthly Cost | $14.99–$17.99 | $14.99–$17.99 |
| Ubisoft Games | Full catalog | 40–50 titles (Classics) |
| Game Genres | Ubisoft-specific | Wide variety (Sony + 3rd party)|
| Platform Support | PC, Xbox, Amazon Luna | PlayStation consoles only |
| Cloud Gaming | Yes (via Luna) | Yes (Premium tier) |
PlayStation Plus gives you a lot more variety and platform-specific perks like exclusive demos and classics. However, if you’re a die-hard Ubisoft fan, the full Ubisoft+ service is still king.
- Access to EA's game library
- Early access trials (10 hours)
- Discounts on EA products
- Full access to new releases (Pro tier only)
Much like Ubisoft+, EA Play focuses on EA-published games. Think FIFA, Madden, Battlefield, The Sims, and Mass Effect.
Both services are nearly identical in structure, just with different publishers. If you’re more into sports and Sims than stealth kills and open-world chaos, EA Play Pro might be your flavor.
Amazon Luna is a cloud gaming platform much like Google Stadia tried to be. Ubisoft+ Multi-Access supports Luna, so you can stream your Ubisoft games without needing a gaming PC or console.
Basically, all you need is a decent internet connection, and you’re good to go. That’s a big W if you want to play high-end games on a budget laptop or even compatible smart devices.
However, Luna is still kind of niche. It’s not as widely adopted or supported as Xbox Cloud Gaming or GeForce Now.
Ubisoft+ Classics is the smaller sibling of Ubisoft+, available in services like PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium. It includes around 40–50 Ubisoft games, often older or more mainstream titles.
Full Ubisoft+ includes all the classics plus:
- New releases (day-one)
- All DLCs and premium content
- Cross-platform saves
- Cloud gaming (depending on your plan)
So if you’re only using PlayStation Plus for Ubisoft+ Classics, you’re not getting the full experience.
- Love open-world adventure, stealth, shooters, and RPGs? Then yes, Ubisoft+ can save you serious cash.
- Only play occasionally or want more variety? Then Game Pass or PlayStation Plus might be a better bang for your buck.
- Hardcore EA or sports fan? EA Play Pro should do the trick.
Ultimately, Ubisoft+ is the perfect niche service for Ubisoft die-hards. But if you're a gamer who likes to dabble in a bit of everything, it might feel a bit like eating only one flavor of ice cream—even if it’s really, really good.
Still, compared to services like Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus, which offer hundreds of games across multiple genres and publishers, Ubisoft+ feels more like a specialized tool than an all-in-one solution.
So, if Ubisoft’s catalog is your jam, go for it. Otherwise, maybe keep shopping around.
