PEMBROKE — Educators from across the county were invited to UNC-P’s X8 Lab to learn about incorporating video games into their curriculums. The event focused on teaching teachers how to utilize the powerful Unreal Engine to create engaging and interactive educational experiences.
Participants were guided through the fundamentals of game design, exploring how games can enhance learning by fostering creativity and critical thinking skills. The hands-on workshop provided educators with the opportunity to develop their own simple games, allowing them to better understand the tools and resources available for classroom integration.
By embracing game development, teachers can create immersive learning environments that motivate students and make complex subjects more accessible. The initiative aims to inspire educators to think outside the box and leverage technology in innovative ways, ultimately enriching the educational landscape and preparing students for a digital future. The response from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing excitement about implementing what they learned in their own classrooms.
