Sony has officially confirmed that Destruction AllStars, one of the first PlayStation 5 exclusives, will soon lose most of its online functionality. The game, which launched as a free PS Plus title in early 2021, will remain playable only in offline mode after November 2025. By that time, all multiplayer modes, including the core online battles and co-op events, will be shut down entirely.
The announcement comes as a quiet end for a title that was initially positioned as a flagship showcase for the PS5's speed and social features. Developed by Lucid Games, Destruction AllStars combined vehicular combat with arena-based mayhem, letting players smash, flip, and wreck opponents in colorful stadiums. Despite a strong launch and a dedicated player base, the game struggled to maintain long-term engagement. Critics pointed to repetitive gameplay loops and a lack of meaningful progression.
After November, players will still be able to access a limited offline mode, but it will only feature basic single-player challenges against AI opponents. All online leaderboards, seasonal content, and multiplayer matchmaking will be removed. Sony has not announced any compensation or refunds for players who purchased the game separately after its PS Plus window ended.
For those who still want to experience the full Destruction AllStars package, the remaining months offer a final chance to dive into its chaotic online arenas. After that, the game will join the growing list of online-focused titles that become shadows of their former selves once the servers go dark.
