A dedicated IndyCar video game, developed by the team behind the iRacing simulation platform, has been delayed into early 2027. The project was originally slated for a release in the second half of 2026. This marks the first standalone IndyCar title in more than two decades, a gap that has left fans of open-wheel racing without a modern, official game to call their own.
The delay was announced by the developers, who cited the need for additional time to polish the simulation and deliver a product that meets the high standards of both the iRacing community and IndyCar enthusiasts. While specific details about the game's features remain scarce, the studio has confirmed that it will leverage the same physics engine and tire model used in iRacing, which is widely regarded as one of the most realistic racing simulators available.
The game is expected to include all current IndyCar series tracks, teams, and drivers, along with a career mode that lets players progress through the ranks. For now, fans will have to wait a few extra months to get behind the wheel. The developers have promised to share more information, including gameplay footage and a firm release date, later this year.
