Big Adventure Games Headed Our Way Soon

14 December 2025

There’s something magical about adventure games, right? They’re the genre that lets us escape the monotony of real life and dive headfirst into epic quests, mind-bending puzzles, and emotionally charged narratives. And lucky for us, 2023 and beyond are shaping up to be an absolute buffet of incredible adventure games. Whether you’re into sprawling open worlds, nail-biting decision-making, or just want to yell at your screen because you can’t solve a puzzle, there’s something for everyone.

So, what big adventure games are headed our way soon? Buckle up, adventurer. Grab your sword, dust off your magnifying glass, and let’s get into it!
Big Adventure Games Headed Our Way Soon

1. Starfield — Space Shenanigans Coming in Hot

Bethesda is back, baby! And this time, they’re aiming for the stars. Literally. "Starfield" is set to blast off, and let me tell you, it’s looking like Skyrim went on a sci-fi bender after one too many drinks.

Imagine this: you’re cruising through the galaxy, hopping from planet to planet, and doing all the things Bethesda games are famous for—looting, questing, and awkward NPC stares. But now, there’s the whole "infinity of space" thing. It’s like finally getting to play a game that merges "The Mandalorian" with "The Witcher." Sign me up!

Slated for release very soon (assuming Todd Howard doesn’t delay it again), "Starfield" promises an epic main storyline, but it's the side quests and exploration that are going to have us glued to our screens for like… ever.

2. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Zelda fans, we’re eating good this year! After "Breath of the Wild" absolutely destroyed any idea we had of what a perfect adventure game looks like, Nintendo is doubling down with "Tears of the Kingdom."

What do we know so far? Well, Link is back, Hyrule is still stunningly beautiful, and there’s a whole lot of mysterious sky islands floating above the kingdom. Oh, and there’s some kind of arm upgrade for Link that makes him look like he’s part superhero, part cyborg. Yep, we're sold.

The big question? How are we supposed to climb all those sky thingies when I could barely glide my way out of trouble in the first game? Guess we’re all about to become professional paraglider pilots in-game.

3. Hollow Knight: Silksong — Yes, It's Still Coming

"Silksong" is the gaming industry’s equivalent of that one friend who always promises to show up to the party but never does. But hey, 2023 might just be the year it actually knocks on our metaphorical front door.

If you’re into Metroidvania-style adventure games (say that five times fast), "Silksong" is going to be your jam. You’ll play as Hornet, who’s basically the sassier, more acrobatic counterpart to the original game’s Knight. Expect gorgeous hand-drawn visuals, music that slaps (in that haunting, melancholic way), and enough challenging fights to make you question your hand-eye coordination.

Seriously, Team Cherry, we’re ready. Drop the game already before we start writing angry letters… or memes.

4. Avowed — Skyrim’s Cousin, Twice Removed

Obsidian Entertainment is bringing us "Avowed," and if that name doesn’t sound familiar yet, think of it as "Skyrim’s cooler indie cousin who listens to vinyl records." Set in the world of Eora (the same universe as "Pillars of Eternity"), this game promises everything we loved about "The Elder Scrolls" but with Obsidian’s signature storytelling chops.

If the gameplay teaser is anything to go by, there’s magic, swords, and probably a lot of moral ambiguity. Because who doesn’t love a questline where the good option makes you feel guilty and the bad option makes you cackle like a Bond villain?

Obsidian has been on a roll lately with "The Outer Worlds" and "Grounded," so we’re ready to trust them with our adventuring hearts. Let’s hope their take on the fantasy RPG formula delivers.

5. Fable — The Reboot We Didn't Know We Needed

Ah, "Fable." It’s like that old friend you haven’t seen in years but still have the fondest memories of. The humor! The quirky characters! The chickens you punted for no good reason!

Well, Playground Games (the folks behind "Forza Horizon") are giving the franchise a reboot, and honestly, I’m here for it. While details are still under wraps tighter than a dragon’s hoard, we know it’s going to look gorgeous, and if they keep the same tongue-in-cheek humor, it’s going to be one heck of a ride.

But here’s the real question: will we still be able to buy real estate, fart on NPCs, and make absurd moral decisions that hinge on whether or not we slide a pie off a table? Time will tell.

6. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

If you played "Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order," chances are you’ve been itching for a sequel ever since Cal Kestis became our ginger Jedi icon. Well, the wait is almost over! "Star Wars Jedi: Survivor" is swooping in with lightsabers blazing.

The devs at Respawn Entertainment have promised a bigger, better, and more expansive sequel. Think new planets, new enemies, and yes, more lightsaber customization. But here’s the kicker—they’re adding new combat stances and abilities, which means you’re about to feel like Yoda and Anakin had a baby. The Force is strong with this sequel.

7. Indiana Jones (Yes, Seriously)

Bethesda’s not just giving us "Starfield"—they’re also working on a new Indiana Jones game. If the name alone doesn’t hype you up, are you even alive? Like, it’s Indiana "Literal Adventure God" Jones.

We don’t have a lot of details yet, but the early teaser featured all the iconic staples: a whip, a fedora, and the promise of puzzle-solving mixed with punching Nazis. If Bethesda pulls this off (without, ya know, glitches galore), this might be the closest we get to feeling like a 1930s archaeologist who’s also an action hero. Honestly, my body is ready.

Honorable Mentions

Some games didn’t quite make the main list but are still worth hyping up:

- Forspoken: A fantasy game where you play a modern-day New Yorker who gets transported to a magical realm. It’s giving major "I have no idea what’s going on, and I love it" vibes.
- Elden Ring DLC: Technically not a full game, but if you’re still obsessed with being absolutely destroyed by FromSoftware’s masterpiece, you’re probably foaming at the mouth for what’s next. (Don’t worry—we all are.)

So, Why Are We So Obsessed With Adventure Games?

Because adventure games let us live out the kind of lives we only dream of. Let’s face it—you’re not going to slay a dragon or solve ancient ruins on your 9-to-5 coffee run (and if you are, I want your job). Adventure games give us the chance to escape, to dream, to experience worlds beyond our own. And the best ones stick with us long after we’ve put down the controller or walked away from our PC.

So, get ready to call in sick, stock up on snacks, and prepare your gaming setup because these adventure games heading our way are about to deliver epic stories, jaw-dropping visuals, and hours of gameplay that’ll make real life seem boring in comparison.
