Beast of Reincarnation Review: Rules of Nature

Beast of Reincarnation Review: Rules of Nature

There is a solid action RPG buried somewhere inside Beast of Reincarnation, but you have to dig through a lot of repetitive systems and shallow storytelling to find it. The game promises a world where the cycle of life and death is not just a theme but a mechanic, and that hook is genuinely interesting at first. You play as a soul that hops between animal forms, each with its own combat style, from a swift wolf to a heavy bear. That core idea works, and the moment-to-moment fighting can be satisfying, especially when you chain together combos that mix speed and power.

The problem is that the game never builds on that foundation. The lore hints at a deep conflict between the natural order and a corrupting force, but the plot unfolds through dry dialogue and forgettable side characters. You will spend most of your time running through similar forest and cave environments, fighting the same handful of enemy types with slightly different color palettes. The reincarnation system, which should be the star of the show, becomes a simple stat check rather than a strategic choice. You just pick the form with the highest number for the area you are in.

The combat does have a few bright spots. Parrying feels tight, and the boss fights, while few, are designed with enough creativity to keep you on your toes. The visual style is also pleasant, with a muted, painterly look that fits the moody atmosphere. But those moments are too rare. After about ten hours, the repetition sets in, and the game's initial promise fades into a grind. It is not a bad game, but it is a forgettable one. For players looking for a deep, nature-themed adventure, this beast never fully wakes up.
